Greetings Fellow Atlantan:

On September 6th, legislation was introduced at City Council proposing the creation of the Beltline Tax Allocation District (TAD). Without question, the Beltline Project is perhaps the most significant long range economic development opportunity in Atlanta since the expansion of our modern Airport more than 25 years ago. In addition to economic development, the Beltline Project is proposing to significantly increase our public parks and greenspace, as well as lead the way for much needed transportation alternatives in our city.

Attached is some useful information that will provide you with a great starting place to get involved in the discussion and to be a part of the solution. Included are beltline facts, master schedule of Beltline events, resources and map.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at (404) 330-6052.

Yours in Service,

Ceasar C. Mitchell

Beltline Facts

The Beltline is Atlanta's chance to improve quality of life for present and future generations. With the Beltline, Atlanta can:

  • Redevelop and revitalize a 22-mile loop of historic railroad around Atlanta, connecting 45 in-town neighborhoods, many of which have long been divided from each other by railroad tracks.
  • Shape the future of Atlanta's urban core, ensuring future growth occurs in an attractive and equitable manner.
  • Address Atlanta's lack of greenspace, creating a linear park that connects 40 of Atlanta's parks, including over 1,200 acres of new greenspace and improvements to approximately 700 acres of existing greenspace.

Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin identified the Beltline as a priority of her administration and assembled the Beltline Partnership to help make the Beltline a reality. Chaired by Ray Weeks, the Beltline Partnership is a diverse coalition of government, civic, community and business leaders committed to bringing the Beltline dream to fruition for the benefit of Atlanta and its citizens.
